Oceanport is a community of approximately 3.8 square miles with a population of approximately 5,800, according to the United States Census Bureau, and is bordered by Eatontown to the west, Long Branch to the south, Little Silver to the north, the Shrewsbury River to the east and is the home of Monmouth Park Racetrack, one the country's premier thoroughbred race tracks. Once part of neighboring Eatontown, Oceanport became as separate borough on April 6, 1920.
Oceanport offers primarily single family housing running the spectrum of prices and styles, from homes appealing to first time home buyers to high end waterfront homes on the Shrewsbury River. There are also a number of condominium communities and one age restricted, active adult community. Oceanport has two well regarded elementary schools, Wolf Hill and Maple Place, with high schools students attending Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch. Oceanport is minutes from local area beaches, the Little Silver train station, Gardent State Parkway and Route 18, as well as Route 35 shopping malls and outlets.
