Oakhurst Homes – Ocean Township, NJ

Oakhurst is located in the eastern part of Ocean Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey.  Covering approximately 1.6 square miles, Oakhurst is bordered on the north by Whale Pond Brook, on the east by Norwood Avenue, on the south by Deal Road and the west by Route 35.  The latest census figures indicate that Oakhurst has a population of approximately 4000 residents.

Oakhurst is comprised predominantly of single family homes, with a handful of multi-family homes and no condominiums or townhouses.  Considered affordable by many, the average price of a home is about 25% below the average for Monmouth county and styles include Colonials, Ranches and Cape Cods.

Elementary school students attend the Ocean Township Elementary School on Dow Avenue in Oakhurst, with middle school students attending the Ocean Township Intermediate School and West Park Avenue and high school students attending Ocean Township High School also located on West Park Avenue.

Oakhurst has a number of parks and recreational areas.  Joseph Palaia Park, covering 208 acres and located at the intersection of Deal Road and Whalepond Road, is the largest recreational site in Oakhurst.  The park has soccer and baseball fields, a three mile jogging trail,  wooded as well as open areas and is the site for cultural and athletic events through the course of the year.  Louise Weltz Park, operated by the Monmouth County Parks System and located on West Park Avenue, provides 165 acres of natural beauty. Louise Weltz Park is lightly developed, but is a great place for peace and quiet and to commune with nature.

For beach lovers, local area beaches are as little as a mile away.  For commuters, the Garden State Parkway is about 15 minutes away and access to Route 18 is even less.  For shoppers, both Monmouth Mall and Seaview Square Mall are no more than a 10 minute drive.
